WILMINGTON — A fight between two students at Roland-Grise Middle School turned into a scene where one parent was arrested for disorderly conduct.

According to New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer, the incident occurred between two students at the middle school on Tuesday. The aggressor in the fight was the daughter of the woman who was arrested; the school has had previous issues with the family, according to Brewer.

Deputies on the scene managed to get the students separated, but when they did, the mother — who according to deputies smelled of alcohol — began accosting the mother of the victim at which point she was arrested.

The case is still under investigation according to Brewer; the mother was released on a $500 unsecured bond. This article will be updated with more information as it becomes available from the Sheriff’s Office.
