The 38-year-old Rocky Point resident allegedly struck a vehicle at the intersection of Martin Luther King Parkway and College Road around 8:45 a.m. then fled the scene, according to Wilmington Police spokesperson Jennifer Dandron.

A Carolina Beach Police officer then spotted the suspect’s vehicle and communicated its whereabouts to officers from the Wilmington Police Department. When she was found in a Costco parking lot just west of the alleged hit-and-run, Lloyd refused to pull over and side-swiped a WPD vehicle while turning onto College Road, according to Dandron.

While pursued by squad cars she drove south on College Road before stopping on the Market Street overpass. After refusing to exit her car, Dandron said the suspect rammed her vehicle into a Carolina Beach Police car.

“An officer was injured extracting her from her vehicle. EMS transported the officer to NHRMC, where he was treated for minor injuries,” Dandron said.

Lloyd was taken to New Hanover County Jail, where she is currently held on a $41,000 secured bond. She was charged with assault using a deadly weapon on a government official; resisting, delaying, and obstructing public officers; speeding to elude arrests with “aggravating factors”; and driving while impaired.
