BURGAW — Out of concern for potential winter storm weather and dangerous road conditions, Pender County has cancelled this year’s Christmas parade.
According to Tammy Proctor, Pender County spokeswoman and tourism director, this would have been the county’s largest every parade.
“It is with deep regret to cancel this year’s parade. We had 84 entries and this would have been our largest parade event to date. But our ultimate goal is safety for all as this storm tracks into Pender County. We have conferred with our safety forces and we agree, we are canceling the parade set for 5:30 p.m. tonight,” Proctor said.
