WILMINGTON — The number of reported gunshots over the past week in Wilmington have been high, but until Black Friday, of the 20-plus reported shots fired had zero victims.

On Friday morning, “Police responded to the 200 block of South Kerr Avenue in reference to 911 calls about multiple shots fired in the area. Before officers arrived on scene, the victim, suffering non-life threatening injuries, drove himself to New Hanover Regional Medical Center,” according to the Wilmington Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Dandron.

The incident took place around 4 a.m. outside of a business of sorts, Dandron said.

Police believe that at least some of the previous shootings that took place this past week were connected, but this incident appears to be unrelated, she said.

Police are investigating the shooting and are asking anyone with information to call 910-34303609 or use Text-a-Tip.
