WILMINGTON — Thanks to Hurricane Florence Wilmington’s annual fall festival Riverfest, which typically takes place in October was delayed — until now.

Riverfest kicks off this weekend complete with live music, fireworks, car shows, and more in Downtown Wilmington.

The festivities kick off on Saturday with music starting at 2 p.m. at Pier 33. More than 30 food vendors and several local breweries will be serving up brews and bites.

Admission is free and most of the festivities will take place on Water Street Downtown.

The City of Wilmington reminds “residents and visitors that pets are not allowed downtown during special events where large crowds are present and streets are closed.”

On-street parking this weekend is free and parking decks will be operating on event schedule rates.
