LELAND — One of Brunswick County’s most well-traveled backroads has been closed since June, with reopening dates that have been pushed back twice.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) updated its online travel information site today to delay the reopening date for the second time.

The road was scheduled to reopen today. Instead, NCDOT updated its website today to delay a reopening date even further. Detours near the closure that lead to I-140 will be lifted by mid-November, a project update predicts.
Since June, NCDOT has worked to repair two metal drainage pipes as part of the Wilmington Bypass Project. Mt. Misery Road was initially slated to open in September, but after heavy rain in August, delayed the project by a month.
The state’s contractor told the department that Hurricane Florence and Michael impacted their schedule, according to a project update issued today.
Work will be completed by mid-November, the contractor told the department, weather permitting.
