Wilmington Police seek man who struck vehicle, then hit second vehicle while fleeing scene

Police are asking for the public's help to find Kenneth Jermain Greene, who has numerous prior convictions and is wanted for a hit-and-run that occurred late last month.

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department is searching for a man who compounded his crimes while fleeing the scene of an accident, striking a second vehicle while attempting to turn around.

Police are searching for Kenneth Jermain Greene, 33, who is charged with property damage, reckless driving, and driving with a revoked license.

According to police, the incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on the afternoon of August 23. Police said Greene failed to obey a stop sign at the intersection of South Third and Meares streets. Greene struck a female driver, whose airbag deployed. Greene then attempted a three-point turn in the middle of the intersection in an attempt to the flee the scene.

While fleeing the scene, Greene struck a second vehicle on South Third Street, according to police.

“A witness who was parked in the 300 block of Meares Street followed the suspect as he fled from the scene to a residence on South Fourth Street. The witness was able to give officers an exact location of the vehicle, which was parked behind a residence,” according to the Wilmington Police Department.

Greene has numerous convictions for larceny, drug possession, possession of a firearm by a felon, as well as two DWI convictions.
