Carolina Beach Town Council fires Town Manager after five years on the job

CAROLINA BEACH — Town Manager of Carolina Beach Michael Cramer has been fired from his position after the Town Council entered into closed session Tuesday evening during their regular council meeting.

Town Clerk Kim Ward confirmed the termination Wednesday, Assistant Town Manager Ed Parvin will serve as the interim Town Manager she said.

“We do thank him for his service,” Mayor Joe Benson said; since it is a personnel matter, Benson said he and staff were not at liberty to discuss the decision further.

“A motion was made to terminate the Town Manager’s contract effective immediately and it was a 4-1 vote in favor of termination,” Benson said.

Cramer has been Carolina Beach’s Town Manager since 2013.
