SOUTHEAST N.C. — Hurricane Florence made landfall a week ago and the region is still suffering, and recovering from the storm, but one of the questions on the minds of school-aged children across the region is, “When will school start back?”
School systems will also post updates on social media pages including Facebook and Twitter.
Port City Daily will update this article as more announcements are made by the school systems in the region.
In Brunswick County, the answer is not for at least another week.
According to a statement from Brunswick County Schools, “All Brunswick County Schools will be closed for students next week from Monday, 9/24/18 through Friday, 9/28/18. Staff is asked to check their email for schedules regarding next week or contact their supervisor for more information on when they report to work due to it depending on their position.”
“Due to large-scale school building storm damage, continued flooding and staff displacement, Pender County Schools will be closed for students next week – Sept. 24th-28th. School Administrators and custodial staff should report to their schools Monday, Sept. 24th. Wednesday, Sept. 26th-28th, will be optional workdays for teachers,” according to a Pender County Facebook post.
