The O’Jays to play downtown Wilmington with original lead singers, tickets on sale now

The founding members met when they were barely in kindergarten and have been performing for over 50 years.

Wilmington—The classic R&B group The O’Jays will perform with their original lead singers in downtown Wilmington at the Cape Fear Community College Wilson Center this fall.

The O’Jays were founded in Ohio in 1958 by five teenagers: Eddie Levert, Walter Williams, William Powell, Bobby Massey and Bill Isles. The band went on become a staple of the Philadephia soul sound, charting with the 1972 hit “Back Stabbers,” and “Love Train,” released the following year.

Over 50 years later, founding members Williams and Levert are still touring as lead vocalists. The O’Jays were inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.

The O’Jays will perform at the Wilson Center on Wednesday, October 10, at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are now on sale to the public at capefearstage.com, via Ticket Central, by calling 910-362-7999, or by visiting the Wilson Center at 703 N. 3rd Street. Ticket Central hours are 2 – 6 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
