Man in stable condition after being stabbed in downtown Wilmington

Both men are being treated at New Hanover County Regional Medical Center.

WILMINGTON—A man is in stable condition and recovering from life-threatening injuries after being stabbed downtown yesterday evening.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, William Glenn Thornton Sr., 49, stabbed Darcy Allen Ferguson, 39. Police believe it was the result of an escalated dispute between the two men.

Around 5 p.m. yesterday, police arrived at a parking lot near 122 Market Street and witnessed Thorton assaulting Ferguson.

According to police, both men are likely homeless. Thorton was also injured during the altercation, but there is no word on his condition.

New Hanover Medical Center is treating both men and Thorton will be officially charged after his release from the hospital.
