
WILMINGTON — After months of construction delay on the River Road bridge over Lords Creek, it is once again open to the public.
According to North Carolina Department of Transportation Spokesman Brian Rick, “The new bridge, which officially opened today, is elevated to minimize flooding, wider to accommodate designated bike lanes, has a new concrete riding surface to reduce future maintenance costs and adds various other safety improvements.”
The project cost $1.6 million and began in November of 2017, the original bridge was constructed in 1974.
