Lillian “Lil” Hittinger, 77, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 2, 2018.
Born in Passaic, New Jersey, to Curt and Mary Ellig, she grew up in Rutherford, New Jersey, and graduated from Rutherford High School in 1958 and the NYC School of Merchandising in 1960. Lil married in 1959 and moved with her husband to Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, in 1965, where she raised her two sons and was active throughout the community.
She worked as a head bank teller and worked for Prudential Insurance in northern New Jersey. She retired to Caswell Beach in 1999, where she was an active member of the community and the Red Hat Society. Lil enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, spending time on the beach, playing cards and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Hittinger Sr.; two sons, Bob Hittinger Jr. of New Milford, New Jersey, and Mark, and his wife, Linda Hittinger, of Hardyston, New Jersey; and three grandchildren, Bobby III, Mark and Nick. Lil was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Ellig.
A service will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, June 7, at the Arboretum Clubhouse, 122 Flowering Bridge Path, Caswell Beach, with a repast to follow.
