
NEW HANOVER COUNTY—A Morehead City man yesterday was sentenced to prison a series of drug crimes.
Incriminating evidence found during the search of a residence, the New Hanover County Sheriff’s office concluded an investigation resulting in John Edward Doyle III pleading guilty to the following:
- Manufacturing amphetamine
- Conspiracy to manufacture amphetamine
- Five counts of possession of amphetamine precursors
- Possession schedule II controlled substances
According to a press release from District Attorney Ben David’s office, officers noticed Doyle had made numerous purchases of pseudoephedrine. Later, several individuals informed law enforcement that they had bought pseudoephedrine for Doyle in exchange for methamphetamine.
Detectives were granted access to the residence where Doyle had ingredients for producing methamphetamine, as well as the finished product.
The renters admitted that they allowed Doyle to manufacture the product in their home.
New Hanover County Superior Court Justice Eburn T. Watson sentenced Doyle 76 to 104 months of imprisonment.
