Wilmington Police investigating third homicide this year after 19-year-old man shot dead

The 19-year-old died at New Hanover County Regional Medical Center after being driven in by a realtive

WILMINGTON—A Tuesday night shooting has left one man dead, as Wilmington marks its third homicide of 2018.

According to Wilmington Police, Tomar Bloodworth, a 19-year-old Wilmington resident, died at New Hanover Regional Medical Center last night.

“According to a witness, the victim and three other people were in the 2800 block of Chestnut Street when he heard gunshots around 8:50 p.m. A family member drove the victim to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he died,” according to a WPD press release.

This is the third homicide investigated by the Wilmington Police Department in 2017. Police are asking for help from the public.
