WILMINGTON—A Wilmington man who assaulted an infant has been sentenced to 68-94 months in prison.

According to a press release from District Attorney Ben David, Frederick Cohen, 29, of Wilmington, pleaded guilty Monday, May 7, to felony child abuse inflicting serious
injury.

“On November 9, 2016 Cohen’s three-month-old daughter was brought to the pediatrician by her mother with bruising on her torso. Doctors determined that the bruising was consistent with non-accidental trauma, and ordered a series of X-rays. These tests determined that the child had three broken ribs, an injury sustained while she was in Cohen’s care,” according to the release.

Judge Kent Harrell sentenced Cohen to 68-94 months in the Department of Adult Correction. He is expected to begin serving his sentence immediately.

Cohen has prior felony convictions for robbery, drug possession and parole violations.
