Here’s what’s on government agendas this week

Take a look at all the items local leaders will be discussing this week, all of these meetings are open to the public

Town of Leland

Town Council

The Leland Town Council will meet on Thursday at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers and the full meeting agenda can be found online.

  • The Town Council will vote on a resolution to accept the possession of all streets, streetlights, sidewalks, and stormwater drainage in Snee Farm Subdivision.
  • Council will vote on a resolution approving the creation of a volunteer program to help supplement the Leland Police Department. “Volunteers are intended to supplement and support sworn officers and civilian personnel,” according to the agenda.
  • A resolution to allow the construction of a gazebo at the Brunswick Center
  • Council will vote on entering into a contract with Greenplay LLC to complete the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan
  • Council will vote on approving the annexation of 37-acres of the Lanvale Forest Subdivision 

Planning Commission

The Leland Planning Commission will meet Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall, the full agenda is posted online. 

  • The commission will vote on several Master Land Use Plans for Brunswick Forest and Magnolia Greens
  • Plans for nearly 40-acres of land have been submitted to allow for 47 single-family lots and greenspace, the commission will vote on the preliminary subdivision plans at its meeting Tuesday

New Hanover County

Board of Commissioners

  • The Board of Commissioners agenda review meeting which was scheduled for Thursday has been cancelled

City of Wilmington

North Waterfront Park Meeting

  • From 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in City Hall there will be a drop-in style public meeting to, “review park design conceptual alternatives and  provide input about the various options,” according to the city’s website  

Growth and Development Meeting for Downtown Business District

  • On Tuesday, citizens in the downtown core commercial district, historic Wilmington, and north waterfront neighborhoods are invited to attend a meeting to discuss opportunities and challenges within their neighborhood, such as jobs, housing, safety and development, according to the City of Wilmington’s dates of interest.
  • The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. in the basement of the Hannah Block Community Arts Center, located at 102 S. 2nd St.
