NEW HANOVER COUNTY — The Sheriff’s Office is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest – or arrests – after the apparent shooting death of Melquan Hicks-Bey.
The body of 22-year-old Hicks-Bey was found in a wooded area off Alvernia Drive in Castle Hayne, between I-40 and the Northeast Cape Fear River. The body was found around 10 a.m. on Sunday, October 5. According to Sheriff’s deputies, Hicks-Bey had been shot multiple times, with wounds throughout his body.
The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is offering up to $5000 as a reward. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers at 910-763-3888 or 1-800-531-9845. Tips can also be submitted anonymously online here.
