WILMINGTON — This weekend will feature a celebration of music, beer and – of course – Wiener races.
The ninth annual Wilmington Wiener Dog Races, held by the Wilmington Dachshund Club, will features several heats on high-speed dachshund races, followed by a costume contest.
The event, held this Saturday, will benefit Dauntless Dog Rescue, a non-profit founded in 2014, as well as Pretty in Pink, a Raleigh based group that provides direct financial support for patients and families dealing with breast cancer.
The Wiener Dog Races will take place at the Ogden Tap Room. Registration will be open from noon until 3 p.m. and the races will begin at 4 p.m. Costume contests will follow.

The Ogden Tap Room is located at 7324 Market St., and will be hosting its own Oktoberfest festivities from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21.
