Update: Jemar Lee Bell was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 25, and is being held in the Brunswick County detention facility. According to Emily Flax, spokeswoman for the Brunswick County Sheriff’s office, he will face a judge Thursday morning and a bond amount will be set, if a bond issued.
LELAND — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help finding a Leland man who stands accused of repeatedly attacking the same female victim.
The Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Unit is searching for Jemar Lee Bell, a 36-year-old man who lives on Bell Way Drive in Navassa, Brunswick County. Bell is wanted for first degree kidnapping, assault, inflicting serious bodily injury and strangulation.
On Friday, Sept. 1, Bell allegedly kidnapped a female victim, punching her in the face and assaulting her so brutally that she lost her right eye. Bell also allegedly placed the victim in a choke hold.
On Monday, October 9, Bell allegedly assaulted the victim again, striking her in the eye.
The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Bell to contact Detective Charles Liles at 910-880-5756 or to call 911.
