WILMINGTON – Warrants have been issued for a Southport man accused of shooting at two drivers Wednesday morning at around 9:30. Police say the man was chasing the vehicles from Leland to Wilmington at the time.
Terrell Jamal Pompey, 28, is wanted for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, shooting into an occupied vehicle and possession of a firearm by felon.
Witnesses told police the incident started when Pompey became angry after an argument with his estranged girlfriend in Leland. He is accused of firing several shots at the estranged girlfriend’s car in Leland while she had several children inside.
The chase continued moving into Wilmington, and a second vehicle became involved. Witnesses say Pompey fired several shots at the second vehicle when near the 1900 block of Oleander Drive. The shots caused damage to that car.
No one was injured during the incident. The girlfriend flagged police down a short time later and gave a description of the vehicle.
Pompey was last seen driving a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria with tinted windows and no license plate on its rear. There is a chrome Ford vanity plate on the front of the car with blue letters. If you have information on Pompey’s whereabouts, you can use use Text-A-Tip or call 910-343-3609.
