CAROLINA BEACH — The Town of Carolina Beach has become the second municipality in New Hanover County to approve the Sunday morning sales of alcohol beginning at 10 a.m., a two hour shift from the previous law restricting sales until noon.

The town had originally planned to discuss the item during a workshop on July 25, but moved the topic to the Tuesday evening meeting after Wrightsville Beach approved the same ordinance Monday evening.

“I think the blue-bill has always been ridiculous, if an adult wants to go into a restaurant for brunch or lunch and wants to have a bloody mary or a glass of wine, I just don’t get why that wouldn’t be possible,” Mayor Dan Wilcox said.

Governor Roy Cooper approved the bill allowing local government officials to make the decision for their respective locales last month.
