The first of these will be the “Beginners Skateboarding Clinic.” The Clinic, which will be held throughout the summer, aims to get new skaters comfortable with their equipment. Instructors will work with campers to identify potential safety hazards, and establish and begin developing fundamental skateboarding skills necessary to succeed in the sport.
After that, they will work to help new skaters understand the “setup” of a skate park, which will allow them to successfully navigate the various hazards of a park.
The “Beginners Skateboarding Clinic” is $10, and includes one free pass to the Greenfield Grind Skate Park. The clinic will run over the course of the summer: June 3 and 17, July 1, 15, and 29, and August 12 and 26. The clinic will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., and is meant for children from 7 to 12 years old.
The “Greenfield Grind Skate Camp” is aimed at a more skilled class of skater. The week long camp, which runs from Monday, June 12 to Friday, June 16, will see skaters going to various skate parks, as well as other activities throughout the week.
Campers will have the opportunity to have Greenfield Grind all to themselves in the morning, along with visits to other local skate parks and activities such as ice skating and laser tag each afternoon. The camp will also visit The Skatebarn, Carolina Beach Skate Park, as well as Trackside Skate Park in Apex.
The camp is for skaters ages 10-13, costs $200, and will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The full camp schedule can be found on the city website.
