Man injured as two Wilmington shootings occur within one hour of each other

WILMINGTON — A man has been hospitalized following two shootings early Tuesday afternoon.

Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay has reported multiple shootings. The first occurred just after 1 p.m., when a citizen called 911 to report a male had been shot at 111 Gores Row, near the intersection of Orange and Dock streets.

EMS arrived on the scene, the man has been taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in serious condition. No other information about the Gores Row shooting is available at this time.

A second shooting occurred just before 2 p.m. at 1320 Greenfield St., where the city’s gunfire detection system (ShotSpotter) indicated multiple rounds were fired in the area.

Lindsay said police believe the shootings could be connected. The investigations are ongoing.
