Police say man was shot twice Sunday night after being flagged down on Henry Street

WILMINGTON — A 29-year-old man was shot twice Sunday night after he pulled over on Henry Street for a man who flagged him down.

According to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Linda Thompson, officers were dispatched to New Hanover Regional Medical Center Sunday night at about 11:20 p.m. for a gunshot victim.

The 29-year-old victim stated he drove himself to the hospital after he was shot by an unknown suspect. The victim reported a black male flagged him down in the area of the 100 block of Henry Street. The man then pulled out firearm and attempted to rob the victim.

The suspect fired two shots at the victim, striking him in the right wrist and left arm. The victim then drove himself to the hospital for treatment, Thompson said.

The suspect is described as a black male who is between 180 and 190 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he wore a black hooded sweatshirt with a colorful design on the front.
