WILMINGTON — Spring has sprung and the North Carolina Azalea Festival is just around the corner. To kick things off, festival board of directors, belles and other guests are traveling to Raleigh to meet the governor. Once there, Governor Roy Cooper is expected to sign the proclamation officially opening the North Carolina Azalea Festival.
The Queen’s Court will be escorted by the Citadel Cadets the entire week of the festival. The Court travels to all events during the week with the official party. They attend all events and ride on the Queen’s float during the parade.
The 2017 North Carolina Azalea Festival will be held from April 5-9. For information, visit its website at ncazaleafestival.org.
