FORT FISHER – Are you looking for a sitter in order to plan a special night out with your Valentine this year? Have children ages 5-12? The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher has your solution.
With Valentine’s Day falling in the middle of the week, many couples may be planning to use the weekend to share love for one another and get some alone time. For that reason, the aquarium is hosting a kids-only Valentine’s sleepover on Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 11.
“This is our fourth year of doing the program and it’s been very popular,” said Renee Weeks, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher Special Activities Coordinator. “We didn’t know for sure how it would go when we first started offering the sleepover so we started with one night. It was so popular we began offering two nights and have around 30 kids stay with us each night.”
Hug them at the door and know the fish fun lasts all night. Children will play games, make crafts and enjoy animal programs with the aquarium’s qualified and trained staff. What’s not to love?
“Parents love it because they know they’re in safe environment, they learn something, and they get to go out have dinner, an evening out and not worry about their kids,” Weeks said. “We’ve had great feedback over the years and a lot of repeat customers. It really is a great deal. Just to have a baby sitter for a couple of hours it would cost you the same and now you’re able to enjoy the whole night alone together.”
The Hugs and Fishes Valentine’s Day Lock-In runs from 6 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday. Space is limited and registration is required. For price and to reserve a space, visit the special events page on the aquarium’s website.
