WILMINGTON — A 23-year-old Wilmington man will serve between six to 12 years in jail after pleading guilty to second degree rape and indecent liberties with a child.

Nestor Alonso De Los Santos-Hernandez Thursday pleaded guilty in New Hanover County Superior Court to second degree rape and indecent liberties with a child.
Judge Ebern T. Watson sentenced De Los Santos-Hernandez to 73-148 months in the Department of Adult Correction, lifetime sex offender registration, and lifetime satellite based monitoring.
Prior to this offense, De Los Santos-Hernandez was in a dating relationship with an adult family member of the victim, according to District Attorney Benjamin David’s office. When that relationship ended, he pursued the victim, a teenager.
The Wilmington Police Department investigated the case and charged the defendant in May 2016 for an incident that arose in March of that year, the DA’s office wrote in a press release.
