WILMINGTON — Grab your gloves and coat. The coldest temperatures of the season will hit the Cape Fear region this Saturday.

According to a report from the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to dip down into the low to mid-20s Saturday morning and the upper 20s on Sunday morning.

The highs this weekend will reach only into the mid-40s on Saturday, but on Sunday, the high is expected to move back into the 50s.

Forecasters say a high-pressure system will move to the northeast as a coastal trough develops just off shore on Sunday.

This may bring a few showers to the coast Sunday night. But only rain is expected on Sunday. Since the temperatures will rise above freezing at that time, and no frozen precipitation is expected for the region.
