WILMINGTON — The season finale of ‘Sports Round Table’ aired this week as the New Hanover County Schools TV show caught up with Hoggard Football Coach Craig Underwood one last time following the Vikings, 49-27, defeat in the third-round of the 4A state playoffs.
Underwood highlighted Hoggard’s effort in Laurinburg against Scotland County.
Quarterback Josh Jones accounted for four touchdowns in the game, including a pair of touchdowns to senior wide out Collin Hairr.
Tight end Patrick Morrison caught a one-yard pass in the back of the end zone to close out his high school football career. Watch video footage from the match up in the video below.
Laney High School senior Caroline Cahill also joined Port City Daily’s Joe Cats on the broadcast to rehash a remarkable season on the links. Cahill helped guided the Laney golf team to back-to-back Mideastern Conference Championships.
The Player of the Year took home top individual honors at the 4A Regional and placed third in the state at the 4A North Carolina High School Athletic Association Championship over two-days at Pinehurst.
Cahill talked about the mental aspect of the game, what it takes to succeed on the golf course and her commitment to UNCW. The Buctown product will play under the direction of Coach Cindy Ho on the local campus for the Seahawks moving into the fall of 2017.
Sports Round Table starts its high school basketball coverage across New Hanover County after the New Year. Each week, Cats will talk with the boys and girls basketball coaches from the four Wilmington high schools. The show airs at 8 p.m. on Wednesdays on Time Warner Cable Channel 5 and Charter Cable Channel 191.
