WILMINGTON — Detectives with the Wilmington Police Department are investigating a shooting that took place Wednesday afternoon.
A ShotSpotter activation called officers to the scene just before 4 p.m. Wednesday, to the area of Sixth and Nixon streets, Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay said. Police located a 19-year-old black male in front of Love Alley.
The victim had been shot in the chest, Lindsay said. The teen was take to New Hanover Regional Medical Center via EMS.
While at the hospital, officers discovered another shooting victim had shown up to the hospital in a private vehicle, Lindsay said. The black male victim had suffered a gunshot wound to his shoulder.
Both victims were being treated at the hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Lindsay said. Details about the shooting or suspect information were not immediately available. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
