WILMINGTON — Tips from the community led to the out-of-state arrest Wednesday of a Wilmington gang member who was wanted for kidnapping and sexually assaulting two college students at an off-campus apartment in November.
Titus Nafis Lee, 19, was arrested by U.S. Marshals at about 3 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay. Lee has been charged in connection with the Nov. 22 incident involving a male and female college student on Litchfield Way in the Cape Cottages apartments in Wilmington.
“The Wilmington Police Department would like to thank the community for the tips received, which helped to identify and locate Lee,” Lindsay said.
Wilmington detectives allege Lee kidnapped two students at their Litchfield Way apartment and reportedly assaulted the students in the home. The students were taken from their apartment and forced in their vehicle to obtain cash from an ATM. They were also forced to pick up another person, a white female, from Market Street before returning to the apartment. Another assault allegedly took place at the apartment before the suspects left with some of the student’s household property, Lindsay said.
The white female suspect – 27-year-old Treddia Marie Sullivan – was arrested last week and charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of first-degree kidnapping. She was booked at the New Hanover County Jail under a $300,000 secured bond.
Lee is charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping and two counts of first-degree rape, Lindsay said. He faces additional charges of first-degree burglary and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The teen also has pending charges in New Hanover County Superior Court from prior offenses, including discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling or moving vehicle, misdemeanor fire a weapon in city limits, and three counts of misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.
