The towns of Pleasure Island are gearing up for their 7th annual Island Day celebration this weekend.

This year, it is Carolina Beach’s turn to host the event. It will beheld Saturday, Sept. 25, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Carolina Beach Lake Park. The day of celebration brings together residents of both Carolina Beach and Kure Beach to enjoy family-friendly activities such as games, hands-on educational opportunities and music.

Residents are encouraged to bring a cooler full of items for picnicking (non-alcoholic beverages only) or bring money to buy hot dogs from the Carolina Beach Fire Department, which will be grilling some up to raise funds.

The annual event provides an opportunity for locals to spend time with friends and neighbors and meet new ones. Island Day is organized by Carolina and Kure Beach elected officials and town staff, Carolina Beach Downtown Initiative, the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce, and volunteers from both towns. The event is also made possible with the help of local businesses and non-profit organizations.
