A Wilmington man was recently arrested after drug agents allegedly seized more than 100 grams of raw heroin from his vehicle.
Detectives with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office stopped 31-year-old Aaron Bernard Boyer in his vehicle as he was traveling east on I-40 into the county Thursday, sheriff’s office spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer said.
As they searched the vehicle, drug agents found 113 grams of raw heroin, which is the equivalent to more than 5,600 bags of heroin with a street value of about $113,000, Brewer said. Detectives also searched Boyer’s residence on South 9th Street in Wilmington. They found 10,000 new heroin bags and other manufacturing materials used to package heroin.
Boyer’s arrest was the result of a five-month investigation between the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and N.C. State Bureau of Investigation, Brewer said. Boyer was suspected of trafficking heroin into New Hanover County from another undisclosed county.
Boyer has been charged with three counts of trafficking heroin, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin, conspiracy to traffic in heroin, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked at the New Hanover County Jail under a $1 million secured bond.
