A Wilmington man was sentenced to more than 9 years in prison after entering a guilty plea to an armed robbery case from June 2015.
Allan William Anderson, 42, pleaded guilty Thursday in New Hanover County Superior Court to charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and second-degree kidnapping, according to Samantha Dooies, assistant to District Attorney Ben David.
Anderson was arrested in connection with an armed robbery of a Scotchman store, 5302 Carolina Beach Road, at about 12:45 a.m., June 25, 2015. Anderson reportedly went up to the register to buy beer. As the clerk began to check him out, Anderson showed a knife and demanded cash from the register.
He then directed the clerk to open the store safe and took another sum of cash, Dooies said. Anderson also took a carton of cigarettes and made the clerk go to the back of the store before he fled. Detectives with the New Hanover county Sheriff’s Office arrested Anderson later that night.
“Several tips from the public led to Anderson’s arrest,” Dooies said.
In an unrelated case, Anderson entered a guilty to plea to a breaking and entering case from May 2015, Dooies said. Superior Court Judge Charles Henry sentenced Anderson to serve between 110-144 months in the N.C. Department of Corrections.
