On Saturday, Feb. 13, the Wrightsville Beach Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the Valentine 10K run and one-mile Loop Walk to benefit the events and activities they put on throughout the year.
The run starts and ends in Wrightsville Beach Park, with participants pounding the pavement on Salisbury Street, Causeway Drive and Waynick Boulevard. The route, which is stroller-friendly, also goes under the drawbridge leading to the town. The walk follows the Wrightsville Beach Loop that is popular for local runners, joggers and walkers.

Packet pickup and on-site registration will be available Friday afternoon from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Shell Island Resort in Wrightsville Beach and Saturday morning from 8 to 8:45 a.m. at Wrightsville Beach Park. The 10K starts at 9 a.m. and the Loop Walk, which is untimed, starts five minutes after. Participants will receive race beanies to wear during or after the race (while supplies last).
Awards will be given following the race for the top three male and female overall finishers as well as the fastest runners in various age groups. Costumes are encouraged, as prizes for the best individual and couples’ Valentine’s outfits will be also be awarded.
