A Wilmington man has been charged with a shooting on Lamppost Circle and a sexual assault — two separate incidents in Wilmington that happened on the same day last week.
Foster Kelly Henry, 40, was arrested just after noon Tuesday in the 400 block of Henry Street, according to jail records. He faces several felony charges in connection with a morning shooting that injured a 29-year-old man in the 5100 block Lamppost Circle on Saturday, Jan. 16, Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay said.
The suspect reportedly tried to rob the victim at gunpoint outside of his vehicle, where the victim was shot at about 10 a.m., Lindsay said. The victim was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his hip.
The victim’s injury was serious but not life-threatening, Lindsay said. He has since been released from the hospital.
Henry is also charged in connection with sexually assaulting a 25-year-old woman at a home on Henry Street the evening of the shooting incident, Lindsay said. The victim reported the sexual assault to police at about noon the following day. The sexual assault was not related to the armed robbery and shooting on Lamppost Circle, she added.
Henry has been charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, possession of a firearm by a felon, second-degree rape and first-degree sexual offense. He was booked at the New Hanover County Jail under a $950,000 secured bond.
