A reality TV show and a commercial will both be shooting in the Port City Tuesday.
According to permits filed with the City of Wilmington, NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” will be on location at Planet Fitness, 68-A S. Kerr Ave., as well as in the downtown area.
On air since 2004, “The Biggest Loser” is a competition-style show that challenges obese or overweight contestants to lose weight, get in shape and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Filming is expected to run from 1 to 8 p.m. and include scenes of contestants working out at the gym, a family walking on the Wilmington Riverwalk and a date night downtown.
The permit lists two cast members, two extras and five crew members involved in the filming.
Also on Tuesday, Lighthouse Films will be shooting a tire commercial that has asked not to be named, Tammy Skinner, Recreation Program Specialist with the city, said.
Crews will film four cast members and four extras in an SUV “heading to work,” the permit states, on Tonbo Trail off Greenville Loop Road between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Both projects are considered low impact, meaning they will not require street closures, police presence or special effects.
