NCDOT closing N.C. 133 at Leland interchange this weekend

Crews with the N.C. Department of Transportation are closing a portion of N.C. 133 for roadwork this weekend.

N.C. 133 will be completely closed between the interchange ramps for U.S. 17/74/76 near the Belville-Leland area, according to a notice from the N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT). The road closure will begin at 9 a.m., Friday Nov. 13 and last until 6 a.m. Monday Nov. 16.

NCDOT crews will be working to pave and connect ramps at the N.C. 133 interchange. The work includes repainting lanes back to the existing pattern in preparation for future work on the roadway. The roadwork will take place, weather permitting.

Vehicles will be directed through a signed detour, which will guide motorists through U.S. 17/74/76 and N.C. 133. Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling in the work area and to expect possible delays.

The work is part of the Causeway Bridge Project, which began Jan. 27, 2014. The project is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 15, 2016. The project will improve safety and reduce congestion in this area, according to the notice.
