A Shallotte man, who was arrested and charged with violating the terms of his pre-trial release while out on bond in July, has posted a $6 million bond.
Lamar Andre McDow, 31, was released from the Brunswick County jail on the secured bond Wednesday afternoon, according to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Emily Flax. McDow was arrested July 23 in Shallotte and charged with violating the terms of his pre-trial release while out on a $3 million secured bond on several drug trafficking charges.
Detectives also arrested 26-year-old Fontella Marie Holmes–a Shallotte woman who won a $188 million Powerball prize in February–and cited her for possession of marijuana, Flax said.
Holmes and her boyfriend, McDow, were charged after detectives executed a search warrant at a Boverie Street home at about 10 p.m., July 23, according to Flax. Detectives reportedly found marijuana, marijuana paraphernalia and a .45-caliber pistol in the home.
McDow—who is a known gang member in Brunswick County—was arrested in November 2014 on multiple drug charges, including trafficking heroin and conspire to traffic heroin, according to Flax. He faced an additional charge of trafficking heroin from a July 2014 incident in which detectives seized more than 8,000 bags of heroin.
The sheriff’s office was alerted that McDow violated his pre-trial release when he was not home at a 7:30 p.m. curfew time, Flax said. McDow has been monitored by an electronic device since being released from the Brunswick County jail on Feb. 27.
McDow was also charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by a felon. According to the N.C. Department of Corrections, he has been convicted of three felonies, including possession of a schedule II controlled substance and possession with intent to sell a schedule II controlled substance.
McDow will continue to be monitored by GPS, Flax said.
