Agents with the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation arrested two Wilmington women on drug-related charges this week.
Tanya Worley Lanier, 44, was charged with 12 counts of felony trafficking in opiates and 12 counts of obtaining controlled substances by fraud, according to a news release from the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). Lanier was charged with obtaining hydrocodone and oxycodone tablets through fraudulent activities.
According to jail records, Lanier was booked at the New Hanover County jail under a $150,000 secured bond. The arrest was the result of a joint investigation with the Wilmington Police Department, the SBI release said.
In another investigation with Wilmington detectives, SBI agents arrested 30-year-old Tamika Nicole Gordon on charges of two counts of embezzlement of a controlled substance by an employee.
The SBI’s Diversion and Environmental Crimes Unit found Gordon—who was a pharmacy technician at the CVS Pharmacy on South 17th Street in Wilmington—had allegedly diverted multiple tablets of Alprazolam and Tramadol, the release said.
Gordon also faces two counts of misdemeanor possession of a schedule IV controlled substance.
She was released from the New Hanover County jail on an $8,000 secured bond.
