Wilmington police arrested a 19-year-old man Thursday after locating a stolen handgun in a vehicle he was driving.

Wilmington police officers noticed a vehicle with no tags and conducted a traffic stop in the 3000 block of Princess Place Drive just after 6 p.m. Thursday, according to police spokeswoman Linda Rawley.

In searching the vehicle, officers located a stolen handgun, Rawley said.

Anthony Shon’trez Lewis was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.

He was taken to the New Hanover County jail and placed under a $5,000 secured bond.

During the traffic stop, a passenger in the vehicle ran from the car, Rawley said. Officers who chased the suspect on foot noticed the suspect was running with a firearm.

Police later found the weapon, Rawley said.

Warrants have been issued for Marcus Williams on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a stolen firearm.

Police arrested two other people in the vehicle–20-year-old Gregory Tyshaun Nixon and 19-year-old Jamal Goodman–and charged them with possession of a schedule VI controlled substance.

Anyone with information about Marcus Williams is asked to contact the Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3609.

Rachel Natacha Owens was last seen getting off a school bus at South Brunswick High School in Boiling Spring Lakes on May 5, 2011, according to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Emily Flax.

Surveillance video on the school’s campus captured Owens entering a small, dark car with what detectives believe may have been South Carolina license plates, Flax said. Owens has not had any contact with friends or family since leaving the school.

“Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the FBI, are again asking for the public’s assistance in providing any information that might lead to the whereabouts of Rachel Natacha Owens,” Flax said. “Detectives continue to follow up on any and all leads and advise that no detail is too small.”

Owens, now 18, has hazel eyes and is known to frequently change her hair color, Flax said. She is 5 feet 5 inches tall and, at the time she was reported missing, weighed about 120 pounds.

“Rachel often expressed a desire to go to Mexico,” Flax said.

“The public is encouraged to share these posters and alert authorities of any information that might result from sharing of information,” Flax said.

Anyone with any information about Owens or her whereabouts is asked to contact Sgt. Candi West at 910-880-4962 or agentcwest@gmail.com, Capt. Laurie Watson at 910-880-4842 or itaygmf@gmail.com, or Special Agent Richard Novelli at 910-342-2957.
