Michael Franti and Spearhead–along with some special guests–are bringing the inaugural Soulshine Festival to Battleship Park on Friday, July 25.
Presented by 98.3 The Penguin, this first-of-its-kind event pairs a yoga retreat with the stylings of Franti and Spearhead, along with performances by reggae band SOJA, poppy folkster Brett Dennen and singer/songwriter Trevor Hall.
The bands are taking the Soulshine Festival on the road, making stops throughout the country at some of their favorite locales for a day of meditative moves and live music, Hometown Wilmington Media General Manager Beau Gunn said.
During previous tour stops to Wilmington, Franti and Spearhead have sold out the Greenfield Lake Amphitheater within minutes, he added.
The Soulshine Festival is set to run from approximately 3 to 11 p.m., with yoga sessions during the afternoon and concerts beginning in the evening. But Gunn said yoga enthusiasts can expect to be treated to some acoustic sets from the participating musicians. And Franti, an avid yogi, might even join in the classes, as well.
Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 11.
