The Brooklyn Arts Center is just that this weekend—a center of art from throughout the community.
Original works in various forms, from drawings to paintings to sculpture and jewelry, fill almost every square inch of the center—a work of art itself as the former St. Andrews Church, with its high cathedral ceilings, tall arched windows and striking 19th-century architecture.
But the stars of the show are the 50-plus artists that make up the fourth annual “Art for All” show, which continues today until 7 p.m.
Among those displaying their works are painter and photographer Billy Cone, whose large paintings focused on faces fill the center’s stage, Andrea Fluty, whose works put comic-book creations onto canvass, and Aaron Collier, whose wooden lanterns illuminate a cute cast of characters.
The show started Friday and attracted art lovers and supporters who browsed the many tables both on the center floor and up in its balcony, as well as within a large outdoor tent in the center’s courtyard. $5 admission includes a raffle ticket, with pieces by artists among the possible winnings. Kids 12 and under are admitted free.
And it’s not just for show. All art is for sale, with items ranging from $25 to $250.
A cash bar and coffee table offers up drinks, and food trucks offer good eats outside.
The Brooklyn Arts Center is located at the corner of North Fourth and Campbell streets, in the heart of Wilmington’s Brooklyn Arts District.
