Man arrested in First Citizens Bank robbery

Police arrested a man suspected of robbing a First Citizens Bank Monday afternoon.

Mark Taylor Treanor, 43, has been charged with two counts of armed robbery, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Linda Rawley.

Treanor is charged in connection with the bank robbery reported at 12:28 p.m. at 4022 Oleander Drive, Rawley said.

“Witnesses say Treanor handed the teller a note that demanded money and stated he had a weapon,” Rawley said.

The U.S. Marshals Task Force apprehended Treanor in a parking lot in the 1900 block of Oleander Drive a few hours after the robbery, Rawley said.

“Police believe Treanor is also connected to a robbery at the State Employees Credit Union at 210 Racine Drive,” Rawley said.

Treanor is being held at the New Hanover County Detention Facility under a $100,000 secured bond.
