Flu shots will be offered to the public this Friday in a clinic at Wrightsville Beach, hosted by the New Hanover County Health Department.

The clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fran Russ Recreation Center, located behind Wrightsville Beach Town Hall at 4 Russ Drive.
County or town residency is not required to receive a flu shot at the clinic, according to a notice from the county.
The health department accepts Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC, United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Tricare, Health Choice, cash, checks and Visa/Mastercard credit or debit cards. Recipients are asked to bring a photo ID along with their insurance card or method of payment.
The department reminds the public to protect itself from the flu by covering mouths and noses with a tissue when coughing or sneezing; coughing or sneezing into upper sleeves, not hands, if a tissue is not available; disposing of used tissues in a trash receptacle; and washing hands with soap and water.
More information on the clinic and the department is available by calling 798-6646. Health-related news is also available through the department’s social media sites on Facebook and Twitter.
