SUPPLY—The Brunswick Interagency Program (BIP) at Brunswick Community College (BCC) was recently reaccredited through 2017.
BIP enables adults with developmental disabilities to fully participate in their communities, according to BCC Spokesman London Schmidt.
The program provides compensatory education classes in language arts, math, health, social studies, community living and vocational education. Instruction includes independent living skills and utilizes BIP’s apartment complex. Case Management services are also provided, Schmidt said.
BIP Assistant Director Krista Engels helped coordinate a three-day site visit and program review with the Council of Accreditation earlier this month, Schmidt said.
“This reaccreditation certifies that the program meets national standards in regards to its operations, finances, quality improvement, community involvement, safety, and services to adults diagnosed with intellectual disabilities,” Engels said.
