New Hanover High School teacher arrested, charged with drug possession

An English teacher at New Hanover High School has been suspended after she was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of a schedule II drug.

According to New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Sgt. J.J. Brewer, 29-year-old Catherine Elizabeth Entrocaso was taken to the New Hanover County Detention Facility just after 11 p.m. Thursday and released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.

Entrocaso was allegedly found in possession of 13 Adderall pills in a non-prescription bottle, without a prescription label, according to the warrant.

“There is an investigation into the incident by the district,” New Hanover County Schools Spokeswoman Valita Quattlebaum said.

Entrocaso has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation, Quattlebaulm said.

Entrocaso is in her first year with the school system. She earns a salary of $36,250 per year.
