Detectives with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a bank robbery at the Castle Hayne branch of BB&T Bank.
Sgt. Jerry Brewer, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said a bank robbery was reported 12:08 p.m. Wednesday at the BB&T branch on Castle Hayne Road.
James Wray Bourgoyne, 35, was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was taken to the New Hanover County Detention Center, where he was placed under a $1 million bond.
Brewer said Bourgoyne entered the BB&T and handed the bank teller a note saying he had a weapon and demanding money.
No one was injured in the robbery, and Bourgoyne fled in a white Nissan. Deputies stopped Bourgoyne on U.S. 17 near Battleship Park on Wednesday afternoon.
