Woman with infant robbed at Wilmington home

Deputies with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an armed robbery reported shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday on Christa Avenue in Wilmington.

The victim, a 24-year-old Hispanic woman with an infant, told deputies she walked out her front door to take out the trash, where she was confronted by an unknown white female with a black handgun, New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Sgt. J.J. Brewer said.

The victim was forced inside her home by the female suspect, and was instructed to open her back door to the home. When the victim opened the rear door, a black male walked inside.

The suspects demanded the victim go inside the bathroom, but she refused, saying she would not leave her infant child in the living room, Brewer said.

The woman grabbed her infant child and was forced inside her bedroom.  While the victim and her infant were the bedroom, the two assailants rummaged through the home, leaving with an undisclosed amount of money and two cell phones, Brewer said.

Deputies are searching for a white woman, who was wearing blue jeans and a gray hoodie, and a black man wearing blue jeans and a blue hoodie.

Anyone with information is asked to call the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 798-4161.
